Dallas Cowboys turning down Eagles’ Slay

It was reported that the Philadelphia Eagles were on the way to losing their all-time number 1 cornerback on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Darius Slay, five-time Pro Bowler, had recently collected permission to attempt a trade while negotiating a potential expansion with Philadelphia Eagles. Then came the reports of an imminent release.

However, Slay was never officially freed, and things have changed in a big way.

Darius Slay also tweeted about this and wrote, “Nothing but love Philly!! Lets see where we heading next..”

The Dallas Cowboys made their first big-name procurement in multiple years on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

Less than 24 hours after the official start of free agency, when teams can sign all the players they have agreed to terms with, Cowboys went a different route.

Forever unsure to make long-term commitments to players who have yet to prove to work in their system, they traded for a veteran player.

While the trade for five-time Pro Bowler Stephen Gilmore comes after a resurgent season in Indianapolis, the reports came with a bonus.

Word has filtered out that the Dallas Cowboys turned down a call on Eagle’s CB Darius Slay.

Darius’ agent was given permission to shop his client around for a trade, but the Cowboys went in a different direction.

Several media outlets reported that the Eagles called Dallas and deleted said tweets, but the rollercoaster had already started his journey.

Slay is due 17.5 million dollars this season, while Gilmore comes in at less than 10 million dollars, with 2 million dollars being in availability bonuses.

Dallas Twitter, starved of any excitement for much of the last 48 hours, has been enjoying both parts of the news.
