Q-Tip maybe one of the elder statesman of the G.O.O.D. Music family, but that doesn’t mean he’s too old to keep up with the rest of the crew.
With his fourth solo album tentatively scheduled for an early 2013 release date, the Queens MC says the project won’t be overshadowed by his new label’s presence.
“It’s going to be me, straight up and down,” Q-Tip tells VIBE. “Yall know that. That’s the thing about [Kanye.] He respects me and I respect him. I’m coming with that boom bap, unrelenting, lyrical, thoughtful, edgy… street. I’m really excited about it, and it’s called The Last Zulu.
Tribe’s frontman wouldn’t disclose production details or guest features from the upcoming project but he did open up about an upcoming Busta Rhymes collabo that he promises will be more than worth the wait.
“It’s called “I Wanna Thank You,” and I’m encouraging everybody out there to blog, Tweet, Facebook, anything about it. Let’s sign a petition. The petition is called “Busta Rhymes Make “I Wanna Thank You” Your First Single,” Q-Tip says with a laugh.
Busta Rhymes to expected to release his Cash Money debut later this year.
